This church has many members many of whom come from all over the city (not just Brooklyn) to worship here. In some parts of Brooklyn, there are churches in every corner. I believe there will be a new store opening some time in March or April.

mopar – no, tabernacle in a more general term – it is not affiliated with LDS. Take a look at the learning center website – good people offering things to help the community – no strings attached. (there are still some of these type of folks still around)
Tabernacle as in Latter Day Saints as in Mormon? Don’t think you can just drop in on those classes without paying with your eternal soul.
FYI: this church is also anti-gay.
NYCS, tell me more about these GED classes. Been trying to find some for an employee of mine. No mention on their website.
ok, get it, i was wrong. clearly seeing the nabe through my own lens/experiences.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle has over 10,000 members that attend 3 services on Sunday and they also have outreach programs that include FREE ESL classes, GED classes and parenting classes to anyone interested throughout the week at their Learning Center on Livingston. The church choir has also won 6 Grammy awards.
The church is opening their own bookstore in the spot that Timeless Treasures vacated.
The church is interdenominational, extremely welcoming and a wonderful place to visit. I love it!
I think Brooklyn is still pretty religious.
Not only the Old Guard but also the immigrant communities.
Park Slopians are perhaps not so religious, they’re into Al Gore and the gospel of self-absorption. But most other neighborhoods have very active churches and synagogues.
Park Slope does too, I’m just joshing.
goldie…that certainly isn’t true of Bed Stuy!!!!!
