Another Rumor: Fast Food for Gage & Tollner Space

We were right with our last rumor about the future of the Gage & Tollner space at 374 Fulton Street so we’ll plow ahead with this next unconfirmed dispatch: We’re hearing that the prospective tenant for the historic eatery is a fast food chain of some sort. No names yet, but we’re told that it’s a company that currently does not have a presence in the city. Because the interior is landmarked, the deal is contingent upon LPC approval. Sounds like a very bad idea to us. Anyone care to guess what chain it is? Quelle horreur!

It is going to be a Pizza Hut, you fools. For sure.
There’s only one Chili’s in the five-boro area, and it’s in Flushing. Just saying.
“Cracker” Barrel on Fulton St. I like that.
I bet they bring back the TGIFriday’s.
I can’t see it being Cracker Barrel on the Fulton Mall. Sure, the food would be a hit, but I recall the chain having problems in the past with properly serving some of our darker Americans. Perhaps they’ve sorted all that out….
Cheesecake Factory is very white bread. more Alexandria Mall than Fulton Mall.
“I say it will be an international house of pancakes.”
“There’s already one on Livingston St.”
Apparently there is room for another as the one on Livingston Street is apparently the busiest one of all the franchises.
Already an Uno’s on 6th Ave in the Village as well–its been there forever. Benihana actually started in midtown. For me, Cracker Barrel screams “roadtrip” Can’t see it in NYC. Cheesecake Factory would fit perfectly in that space. Their salads are great and the avocado egg rolls are good too.
