The owners of Smith Street’s Bar Great Harry—a beer snob’s paradise—are getting ready to open a new joint near the corner of 4th Avenue and Carroll. The bar will share a wall with the former lesbian bar Cattyshack (which closed down early this year and in its present incarnation seems to be rarely open) but does not have anything to do with its neighboring establishment. The BGH biz will have an outdoor space that its owners say will lend it a beer garden vibe, and the emphasis will be on craft beer, with 24 draft lines and a couple of casks. It should be open by late August or early September. GMAP

  1. oh please, the bar will be soon razed, and another building will butt up against that fugly building put up by Gregory Rigas, the owner. He already owns the red brick buildings on President & 4th, so I’m sure he has his eye on the the site of the bar…

Hopefully he will get an architect with some taste because his buildings are freakkkin ugly.

  2. i really REALLY hope they bleached that place top to bottom. catty shack always smelled like BO, barf, and feet. seriously. and im not just saying that cuz i got kicked out of there more times than i can count on both hands.
