looks like a perfect stadium to me.
Why not save money and build another “fancy” floor on top for basketball?
the empire state building = fugly
Not only was the Empire State building put up in 1 year and 45 days, but official records show only 5 workers died during its construction. Also bear in mind, they did wear hardhats or have the safety gear like today. It was built by about 3400 construction workers and Mohawks, General William(?) Starrett’s construction company did the work. An incredible achievement and building.
Not that its any justification on this project taking so long, but even at the time, Empire State Building was faaast (actually, less than 1.5 years). The days before strict building and construction permits, and the Great Depression where labor was cheap – couldn’t do something like that today if you tried.
Blahstoner:
Are you kidding? wow that’s crazy that it only took 2 years to build something as huge as the empire state and it’s taken then 5 years to build a doorway
jeesuss…
Phase 1 of the project began 2002, Phase 2 which is the entrance began in 2004. For those keeping track—Empire State Building: less than 2 years to completion. Glorified doorway to the subway:5 years and counting. Way to go MTA.
