Good news for sweet-tooths in Dumbo: An old-time candy store is slated to open at 141 Front Street at the corner of Pearl. Alison Dewey signed a five-year lease for the 900-square-foot space, reported the Brooklyn Eagle. The store will feature throwback candies and gifts as well as offer private party space.

  1. Charms Sweet and Sour pops. Pretty please, with sugar on top?

    Also:

    Mary Janes

    Lik-M-Aid

    Bottle Caps

THose Wax Stick thingys with Koolaid inside

  2. normally i’d poopoo these kinds of businesses, but i think this one will totally work out and wish them the best. at least it’s not some dumb obscure designer baby tshirt shop or overpriced muffin/coffee shop!

suggestion to the owner: do delivery in the neighborhood. (seriously) i bet youd make a KILLING delivering candy to all the kids in williamsburg and the immediate areas hahaha. 😉

  3. Sweedish fish (of course), jell bars, boston baked beans. But speaking of late breaking candy news, I just found Reese’s Whoopers! peanut butter malt balls, sometimes progress is good.

  4. If it’s a “retro” candy store in Williamsburg, the only sure bet is that it won’t be “penny” candy. We visited one such venture, Robin’s Candy Store, in Great Barrington, Mass. (a charming, well-heeled tourist town), and it was filled with old-fashioned treats–all costing about $5 a pop…

  5. u know what pisses me off? i lived basically around the corner from economy candy for like 4 1/2 years and i never knew they sold candy to the public. i thought it was like a distributor or warehouse or something 🙁

i guess at least my teeth thank me now
