We received word through a tipster yesterday that the McDonald’s at 169 Tillary Street, a long-time fixture in Downtown Brooklyn, had closed. Sure enough, that was the case when we went by this morning. According to signs up in the windows, the fast food giant lost its lease after, we’re guessing, 20 years. The property does not appear to have changed hands recently nor have any new building permits been applied for. Anyone know what the plan is? Is the demise of McD’s good news or bad news for BKLYN Gold marketing efforts? GMAP

  1. I worked across the street at Metro and knew over 2 years ago that this was closing to make way for what else…condos or rentals. One of the Mcd’s managers was in a new employees training class and clued us in.

  2. MMMMmmmmmmmm…okay. I’ll dive in.

Haven’t eaten at a McDonald’s since my mid twenties and truthfully, haven’t wanted to. Except perhaps the french fries, which are awesome. But I’m a cake-y vanilla person much more than a grease-y salty person, so when I indulge, it ain’t there. But I digress.

Rob, and anyone who might be wondering why it is that McDonald’s leaves one feeling mildly ill, bloated and greasy, should watch Morgan Spurlock’s take/experience on the place in Super Size Me. FanTAStic train wreck of an experiment that could have killed him. Watch it.
