1320-Atlantic-Avenue-0210.jpgRemember when we told you about a hotel planned slated for Atlantic Avenue in Crown Heights? Well, it’s really happening. Blog Nostrand Park decided to check in on the progress: Judging from the photo, it looks like the five-story building is close to being done; the blogger even made out what appeared to be a concierge desk in the lobby. She also speculates, based on the local rumor mill, that it will be either a Best Western or Quality Inn. Anyone have any intelligence on this? GMAP

  1. snowboard queen- we also have an inn that caters to foreign students. It’s a great old townhouse that was on the CHNA House Tour last year.

I really happy about the hotel- it will be an asset to the community.

  2. I could be wrong, but if you are a tourist who is adventurous enough to stay at that location, you may specifically want the Nostrand Ave flavor.

I specifically envision young, deep pocketed Africans, (Nigerians), West Indians,Rasta Culture loving Japanese, Europeans etc. You can have a feel of “authentic” Brooklyn, yet still be a LIRR ride to AY or the airport train.

Not to mention the Southern, Middle Class Older crowd coming up North for local Church functions or to visit relatives in the area, but don’t want to stay at the relatives homes.

  3. I live around the block from here, and check up on it periodically, but have to admit, not lately. There was a halt in the project for a long time. We can debate all day about whether this is good, funny, or absurd, but all of that is usually tossed out there by people who don’t live here. For those of us who do, any kind of interest by mainstream companies, who only build or open businesses because they think they can make money, pure and simple, is good for us. People in our community need places for the relatives to stay, just like everywhere else, and if this facility has any kind of dining facilities, and/or conference space, they will be booked, and there are few local places to have meetings, meet clients, or even get an unharried cup of coffee. It will also provide some well needed jobs. It’s not the Ritz, but it’s a start. I hope the best thing about this hotel is that it is the first of many economic opportunities in the community.
