This just in from a reader whose doorbell was rung by the cops at 2 a.m. last night: “There was a mugging on Irving and Gates @ 1 AM and then a rape in the same area between 5-6 AM this morning. Seems like it was the same guy from the Classon and Fulton one a few days back.” You can see the Wanted poster here. i think that unless you move all those projects, it will remain problematic.
RE: Gunshots. I heard that too, but there is construction going on inside and around the school, even at night. I thought it was construction related. It didn’t really sound like gunshots, but from further away may have.
RE: This Neighborhood. I find myself letting my guard down slowly. And then something like this happens and I realize I had better not let my guard down. Then I do it again. Be careful here–it’s a strange place. Friendly, yet a lot of men standing around on street corners during times when one would think they should be on their way to work, school or SOMETHING. It is the ghetto, and idle people/idle minds tend to find something to occupy themselves.
RE: “mostly white now”. Perhaps up by Myrtle, but not down here. Not that this has anything to do with the crime rate in this corner of Clinton Hill. An old resident junkie walking past me one night said it best: “Gentrification! This neighborhood ain’t THAT nice!” LOL!! No, it’s not. I’m a little sad that I bought here.

As I was driving by the school this afternoon I noticed alot of police and detectives on the scene and the crime tape across the open lot. I wouldnt have known about this assault if not for a female parent who was telling others what occured. She also stated that they think the suspect is the same one responsible for the sexual assault at PS 3. I am now wondering if this suspect is responsible for the earlier attack on St Felix St in Ft Greene which also occured at 5:30am a few months back.Also why havent the police made public the possibility of a serial rapist in this and close neighborhoods. I would think women should be made aware that a rapist is on the loose even if there was one victim further more two so close in proximity to each other.Anyone know what happened on Myrtle Ave and Carlton Ave. I passed by this afternoon and there were 4 cop cars, crime tape across part of sidewalk in front of Bravo supermarket across from that nypd tower that extends in the sky with the cameras.

Serpentor, I did hear those shots last night around 10:15. It was raining and hard to tell exactly where they were coming from. I haven’t heard anything today about them.
