The Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins on the corner of St. Marks and Flatbush has been seized, emptied, and locked up. The reason was unclear from the notice posted on the door, did anyone know of any trouble already brewing there? GMAP

  1. I’ve seen this happen in so many cities. You’ll have reasonable rents and everyone is making money. Landlords get greedy and increase rents to the point that they drive tenants out of business. Landlords then sit with empty stores and the area deteriorates. Few years later with empty stores all over the place, rents bottom out and the cycle begins all over again.

  2. I’m surprised no-one was bemoaning the loss of the community space provided by the Charcuterie. Though it wasn’t perfect they made pretty good sandwiches and had decent coffee.

I hope the landlord thinks the extra 6k/mo the squeezed out the space was worth it.

  3. Aaaah – you’re all wrong. The franchisee could not pay the rent, which topped out at $8,500. Guess they just couldn’t swing it after paying their franchise fee every month. So, the landlord got the marshal to evict and seize the equipment. End of story.

It was nice to have DD located close by, and I’m really not looking forward to another empty storefront on this part of Flatbush.
