Friday was supposed to be the last night for Freddy’s bar, the anti-Atlantic Yards stronghold which had been forced to close via eminent domain. They tacked on an extra night at the last minute, however, and photog Tracy Collins was there to document it in a Flickr photo set. Did any readers attend?

  1. Please stop ranting, complaining and insulting. Freddy’s was a good bar. I have been a customer for over 10 years and remember the days when you could show up on a Saturday night and there would only be 10 maybe 15 people in the entire place. Does anyone remember the holiday dinners for folks who had no place to go? When they were serving prix fix dinners in the Backroom? Ha!

Do I go all the time? No! But when I do show up I have fun and I always see someone I know. Who cares who showed up to say good by! Be nice and stop being so snarky!

  2. Oh come ON, babs. If they wanted it to be regulars-only, they should have made it a private party. I myself (who have been there only twice before, though I bike past it all the time) thought about showing up as a gesture of solidarity. Thank goodness I didn’t; I would hate to have destroyed brooklyn or whatever.

  3. “someone had told them it was “cool.”

    They lied.

“prevent this rape and theft of Brooklyn’s soul”

Brooklyn’s soul was and will be fine regardless of what Daniel Goldstein or Bruce Ratner do, and neither of these guys could ever change that. You on the other hand need to start breaking the tablets in half.

  4. “that gross slag behind the bar is reason enough to shut the joint. seriously, how is THAT good for business? The beer goggles cant work soon enough.”

At least she isn’t covered in bathroom tile – now THAT would be totally unacceptable.
