A couple of weeks ago we wondered aloud about what was happening in the retail space at the corner of Flatbush and St. Marks, formerly the home of iSold it on Ebay. A restaurant had seemed like an obvious bet but according to this photo a reader took on the way home from work last night, it’s going to be something called The Market Place. From that name, could be either some kind of food shop or a mini-mall. Anyone got anymore info? The signage doesn’t look particularly upscale to us.
What’s up on Flatbush and St. Marks? [Brownstoner] GMAP
the signage isn’t inspiring, no. better news is that the animal hospital two doors up on flatbush actually looks very decent. they’ve fixed up the storefront nicely, with a lovely paint job, big windows and a airy waiting room.
Overpriced beer and sandwiches is it “upscale” enough?
Looks like same signage as grocery located on 5th Avenue
at Berkeley in the Slope. Upscale small grocery which makes sandwiches, salads, etc.
I spoke to the owner/construction crew a weekend or two ago and found out that it’s going to be an organic deli. I’m excited, only because it’ll be one of the few delis within a couple blocks of St. Marks and Flatbush carrying a wide selection of beer. Haifa Mart, just across St. Marks on Flatbush, has most other essentials, but doesn’t sell any alcohol.
I peeked in last weekend. Judging from the dairy cases along one wall I would guess it’s going to be some type of grocery.
Unfortunately it looks to be yet another deli. Refrigerator cases along the back and shelves in the middle.
