Back in March we gave you the heads-up on a new bar opening up in the old Bar B Q space at 689 6th Avenue in Greenwood Heights. Since then, big strides appear to have been made, including the addition of some new signage trumpeting the establishment’s new, and not particularly creative, name: Brooklyn Pub. GMAP

  1. Yes, those two buildings have been for sale for a few months. I think I remember seeing that the retail space in this builing was bringing in $2,850 per month in rent, but this was back when it was Safe Haven. I wonder if with two failed bars, the owner lowered the rent? Maybe a heartier food selection will help – Safe Haven’s food choices were slim pickins.

I did the quick math in my head and $2,850 in rent does not leave much room for error.

  2. “In other news, the brooklyn pub building, and the lot 2 building next door are both for sale. Same owner, I think.”

Those buildings have been “for sale” or “for lease” on-again/off-again for years. Would not worry about anyone going anywhere…

  3. Old news. The sign has been up for months. Think they are awaiting licensing.
It’ll be nice to have something open on that corner again. Also someday, the pizza place across the street will also open.
