Union Smith Cafe has been doing some brisk business lately — their outdoor patio area draws a crowd on every sunny afternoon — but apparently they’ve violated some health codes because the Department of Health has slapped up those yellow posters. Looks like the cafe is closed for the time being. GMAP

  1. i worked in a dining hall for a few semesters in college and we were forced to wear a hairnet. even if we had like no hair on our head. i think everyone who works with food should be forced to wear a hairnet. maybe make the hairnets in different colors and stuff tho.

    *rob*

  2. But Cobble, addy listed is the same addy listed on Union Smith Cafe in the Restaurant Guide. I could be wrong though. Sometimes the DOH site takes a (long) while to switch the name of the rest. associated with a particular addy.

  3. “4.) Personal hygiene inadequate. Clean outer garments, effective hair restraint not worn”

I know who’s cooking today! Paco!

Oh yeah, and wrong place Saaaaaaahnappy.

  4. Snaps, I don’t think that’s it. Sal’s is at Court & Degraw, not Smith. (Mama Maria’s is next door to Sal’s, or two doors over at most.) Is this owned by the same people?

  5. The inspection results are posted, just under what was likely the name of the establishment in it’s place beforehand (but must be Union Smith due to date of last inspection):
