Don Capoccia, the man behind Toren, Downtown Brooklyn’s splashiest new residential development (and a longtime Brownstoner advertiser), was the subject of a Q&A in The Times over the weekend. What did we learn? Well, first off, the 240-unit project is now about 55 percent sold and “moving pretty quickly toward 60 percent.” (Another example, notes Atlantic Yards Report, of the preposterousness of the numbers KPMG’s market study for the Ratner boondoggle.) Capoccia reports that they’ve ” done 20 contracts in the last 12 days,” though we’re not sure if that means they’ve sent out 20 contracts or buyers have signed 20 contracts; we suspect the former. He also used the opportunity to perpetuate a rumor that Lebron James had been looking at the penthouse unit.

  1. I’m still getting a kick out of this building. Thank goodness some high-rise architecture is prepared to take risks in order to create a little visual excitement on the skyline.

A little embarrassed to admit this (I hated Gehry’s AY renditions) but I’m also a fan of the 76-story Beekman Tower in lower Manhattan.

  2. Yeah, I was discussing Boozer this morning (Didn’t know he was free – time flies. Make good for leaving Cavs.). Wade stays. jj? (can’t quite crack the ‘dope code)

  3. “Lebron James had been looking at the penthouse unit.”

Go Brooklyn! Now Beyonce (OPP), Oprah (1HP) and Lebron (Toren) have the whole Flatbush Extension on lock!

    Back to the thread…

“…we’re not sure if that means they’ve sent out 20 contracts or buyers have signed 20 contracts…”

ROTFLMMFAO! Gotta love the opacity of downtown Brooklyn RE.
