The Residences at The Williamsburg (yes, that’s the full name) are not close to launching (they should be finished by the end of the year), but we took at look at one of the model rooms they have just put together. The rooms themselves are nice in the way that you’d expect a new building in Williamsburg to be nice, but what caught our attention was how teched out they were. There’s a screen to program air and light settings, iPod docks built into the wall, and, the piece de resistance, a nanny cam installed on the ceiling. An iPhone seems like a prerequisite for residency, as you’ll be able to control all the aforementioned settings as well as watch your ceiling camera through the popular Apple device. A virtual doorman will also be able to let visitors in and accept packages. For those who prefer services a little more, er, human, the adjacent site off McCaren Park is slated to become The Hotel Williamsburg, and condo residents will have access to the concierge and room service (including maid and turn-down service). The hotel should be complete next March. The Residences offer one- and two-bedrooms, starting at $430,000. You can check out the first batch of listings here. GMAP

  1. This all seems so gimmicky. The ipod docks and maid service for condo residents? C’mon! Do people really fall for this?
What’s the next thing in this stupid “luxury living” trend?
On-site staff of luxury dog walkers or personal condo chefs?
    Give me a break.

  2. ” as you’ll be able to control all the aforementioned settings as well as watch your ceiling camera through the popular Apple device.”

This place will sell well with glamourous creative professionals and aspiring porn stars.

  3. the hotel is already being talked about in my industry. very convenient for people coming in from out of town to work in the area (production jobs).

there’s a huge studio on N.14th – and this is very close.
