Building 92, the former Marine Commandant’s Residence overlooking Flushing Avenue between Carlton and Adelphi, has been undergoing a top-to-bottom renovation since last March. As you may recall, it’s the future home of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Center, which will “will explore the Yard’s rich and illustrious history…through permanent and rotating exhibitions and programming.” While the interior still has a long way to go, we were struck by how much the restored quoins (those interlocking stones on the corners) popped out at us as we rode by. Quite a difference compared to how they looked before. Meanwhile, it looks like foundation work has started on the glass addition at the rear (where the cafe and classrooms will go—see rendering on the jump).
