Some of the plywood came off the facade of the new bar slated for 925 Fulton Street (between Waverly and Washington) at the end of last week, showing that work has actually been taking place behind the barrier and that an opening might not be too far away. As you may recall, investors in the project—which is being called Hanson Dry, after the dry cleaners that used to be in that spot—include folks behind Franklin Park, Southpaw, Cornelius and Soda Bar. We got a photo through a hole in the fence that suggests a fairly traditional public facade but a more modern interior. We can’t wait to see—and quench our thirst at—the finished product!

  1. I love Beny’s. I love it so much I want to take out ads in Times, except that would make the lines longer. More4, their prices really aren’t bad for what you get — the entrees are big enough to split. Pricing is about the same as Just Taste It, next door. (Which is also excellent.)

But the area is still underserved for coffee.

  2. m4l – choice of coffee aside, I suggest trying the savory food (not just the top notch pastries) at Beny’s Delice. It’s not expensive, and very good. It’s take away, not sit down as I would like to see more of, but it is really nice. I have tried stuffed eggplant, a kefta filled pastry and liked them both. Saw some codfish provencal style their this a.m. that looked good (I think $8.50 a serving)

I would like to see some more restaurants too.
