It seems like a lifetime ago that we were attending the opening party for the Ikon, one of the first condo projects overlooking McCarren Park to come online. That was more than three years ago, but now one of the premier pads in the 48-unit development is back up for sale. Say what you will about the overall building design but a full floor with wraparound windows with views over the park is pretty compelling. There’s about 2,400 square feet of interior space in addition to a couple of balconies; the apartment has been rented by the sponsor for the past year. Asking price: $1,700,000. Monthly common charges: $1,755. Tempted?

  1. We looked at another PH unit in this building to rent — big problem is the klieg lights from McCarren Park, which blast bright light into the apartment until 11 every night (and almost white out the view of the skyine). We saw it at night — you’d basically need to install black-out curtains not to be blinded, given the floor-to-ceiling windows. Too bad — great unit otherwise.
