st-anns-1-11810.jpgOn Monday the renderings for the Tobacco Warehouse were revealed. Yesterday there were no surprises when the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation’s board of directors gave its support for St. Ann’s to develop the site. Despite mixed reviews from the community meeting, and opposition from Steve Levin and Joan Millman, the final vote was 14-3 in favor. Much of the opposition stemmed from the lack of community input in the design proposals; only one other bidder submitted a proposal and didn’t even bother to show up at the final board meeting. St. Ann’s proposal includes two performance spaces and a 7,600 square foot walled public garden, but before development an environmental review is still required. The city isn’t expected to officially give St. Ann’s a lease to the site until 2011, and plans to relocate aren’t until 2013.
