Foundation In At Jane's Carousel
In addition to showing that the zoom on the iPhone ain’t all that, this photo reveals that the foundation of Jane’s Carousel has been laid. As you may recall, we reported that ground was broken in mid-November and gave you another look just before Christmas.

Jean Nouvel enclosure will protect it of course.
How will the children who use it feel about the location?
Isn’t it supposed to be in that big yellow glass cube?
and if there is a tsunami, it will end up at the Walt Whitman Houses.
beyond salt water corrosion – what happens if we get a bad storm? that thing will be under water. stupid.
I had the same reaction as spitfire. Unless the plan is to fully enclose it, that carousel is going to get salt water corrosion.
The location of the carousel will bode well with the salt water at it’s door step. Poor horses. 🙁
As always these threads reveal perhaps more than we wish to know about our fellow Brooklynistas.
As for me, I thought I knew where the carousel was going to be located but now, looking at this picture, I don’t think I have any idea. I thought it was going to be by the cove near the Manhattan Bridge, this looks like it is closer to the Empire Stores. Well, we will all have a chance to judge in person later this year.
oh it’s actually IN the park? hmmm okay, nevermind my comment about location then (my other comments stand tho). for some reason i was assuming it was way out at the end of the pier.
*rob*
I think this is a wonderful addition to the park.
