I love Pioneer Street in Red Hook, can’t believe homes are that expensive there as well.
So much for my hidden treasure.
For the record, there is absolutely no explicit quid-pro-quo link between advertising i the marketplace and getting featured editorially. Obviously we are making an effort to include more and more Marketplace listings as the pool of properties to choose from grows but one does not guarantee the other nor do we give the impression that it does. In fact, we have very little to do with the mechanics and sales effort behind the Marketplace; there’s a full-time sales person who deals with the bulk of that stuff.
Yes, traditionalmod, you have a good point. Still like looking, but more off the radar places can be more exciting in various ways. True.
@Ishtar the pacific street is between Washington and grand not vandy and nostrand. That whole block is a mix of new condos and townhouses. It’s really not a bad location at all. In fact if you check the border of prospect heights and crown heights it literally runs through the middle of this block. It’s a three fam so you’d make decent income I’d imagine at least 4k, which would probably be close to what your mtg might be if you put20 percent down. Duznt sound horrible.
Did anyone catch the last name of the realtor on the 80 metropolitan townhouse? Overbye
My post above should have included Open House Picks too. Whatever features are often or always marketplace properties.
It’s not coincidence to me the HOTD has become dull. I just think it’s incredibly boring if the HOTD always come from the marketplace. For it to be even slightly interesting or significant as editorial content to me it should be a property that’s chosen because it’s off the radar and may have been overlooked, or it’s unusual in some way, etc etc. Always choosing a marketplace house for HOTD is not content. Yes Jon can do that but let’s call it what it is. An ad.
“DH, cause I’m surprised why so many people are surprised Jon is monetizing his content & traffic.” (nire4less)
Not surprised by this. Just want it clear. I don’t think it works well to mostly have your own listings in featured properties, but then throw in a few that are not yours seemingly to retain a felling of some sort of democracy. Just call a spade a spade: The featured properties come from Brownstoner’s own listings. It’s no biggie. As I said, the readers can still say whatever they want. So far. 😮
You would have to be out of your mind to pay anything close to 800K for a house on Pacific street between Vanderbilt and Nostrand. That entire stretch is an eyesore.
