We stopped short the other night when we saw the paper down at 683 Washington Avenue, what we long ago reported was to be a steampunk-themed music spot. And we have good news to report: the Way Station will be opening soon, hopefully within the month. The interior’s totally done; the liquor license just needs to come through. After a long wait, the owner told us it finally looks like it’ll happen. Great news for Washington Avenue. GMAP
Noticed the blue TARDIS booth… Pretty cool. Nothing too “steampunk” about it, IMO. Guess we’ll see soon-ish.
As a 15th level Magic User, I find this to be a little nerdy.
I’m not into steampunk, but I think it’s pretty cool if they can pull this off. There are so many rock-type bars that can’t make it as a rock bar, so they have to do the hipster-indie-dance-crap to pay the bills. I’m sure when the owners opened those places, they never intended that style, but you gotta pay the bills.
So, hopefully they can be a steampunk place, and not have to change their theme to make ends meet.

they’ve been open for events here and there (had an “events only” license for a while) but if they say the actual license is finally coming through, that’s probably true. looking forward to checking it out.

Steampunk seems like the most made-up trend idea ever. However, after more than twenty years of rebellious teens expressing their difference by wearing the exact same punky goth fashions, I find it refreshing.
Also, I mean, I am a geek. I love William Gibson. I play video games. I feel too old for this trend, but I like the aesthetic.
