I’m not an expert on the matter. I have heard the Syrians call themselves “Orthodox” – perhaps they have a different take on what that means. From an appearance POV, you certainly wouldn’t know it. They dress in a very stylish and contemporary fashion.
benson- oof! You’re right about that. I should have checked on which brand of Orthodox they were 🙂 Although for some reason I had thought the Syrian Jewish community was somewhat less orthodox than the Hasidim. It’s interesting, the differences between Sephardic Jews and Askenazi Jews (my background).
