One reader sent in the top photo of 18-20 Jackson Place in its pre-collape, but still dillapidated, state; another just emailed us the bottom photo of what the site looks like now. Sounds like the owners didn’t take very good care of this place. Update: Police, Fire Department and DOB are on the scene. A vacate order has been issued to the neighboring house at 22 Jackson Place. Wonder how hard the city will come down on the owner of the collapsed property for neglecting it so long. New pic below.

  1. HPD is there today to take care of the demo. the sleeze bag owner tried to sneak back in to do the demo himself, but DOB cut him off at the pass…and at the knees.

  2. There you go, the difference between $1.5m and a $500k lot is that there chunk of building materials arranged in a more orderly manner.
Does a fairly small pile of bricks and lumber and so on really cost 1000000.00 dollars to arrange, nowadays?

If so then the government has been lying about inflation to us all.

  3. Supposedly it will be in HPD’s hands and down tomorrow. SAFELY, fingers crossed.

Let’s all send out some good karma to the family in 22 Jackson Pl.

  4. The owner is a nut, wait till he gets the $30,000 HPD bill for finishing the demo mother nature started. He will have something like 24 hours to hire MMG demo otherwise, if he plans to do it himself on the cheap.
