Help with selecting trim color for brownstone
I would like advice regarding paint trim color for our brownstone. The window sashes are currently white from the primer which is on them. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. -Thanks. DG

I would go with the blackest green you can find.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Our house is located in the historic distric of Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.. Hopefully no one will get too upset that I'm seeking advice on this website, but there are not very many browstones in D.C..

There is a company called Fine Paints of Europe -they have a beautiful exterior colors. I am thinking of one called "Coach Green" as the posters above suggest, its a very black green. Your house deserves the best!

Are you looking to paint over the red/burgundy or just to add another color over the while primer around the windows?
I agree with the other posters about a dark green but with the red it might look a little christmasy...
Assuming you are painting over the red I would go with Benjamin Moore historical color Fairmont Green. It looks great with brownstone.

How about a dark cobalt blue? I think it would look great with the greyish stone. Also with the wood upper trim and the door the same color, or perhaps a nano-shade brighter for the door.

black forest green by benjamin moore is a very nice "almost black" dark green...

I worked on the restoration of an 1880's bronwstone. We did paint chip analysis with a microscope to find the original window and trim paint color. We were delighted to find the historic colors were in two tones: a deep red burgundy color (on the window sashes) paired with a deep,dark warm purplish gray color (on windows frames); both of which look great with the brownstone.
Colors were: Sherwin Williams SW 2735 "Rockweed" (frames) and 2713 "Firebrick" (sashes).
On another project, an 1880 red brick building, we found using the same analysis method that the cornice and window were originally painted a light olive green color (Benjamin Moore HC-98 "Providence Olive."
