  1. A Prospect Heights neighbor mentioned to me that they’ve used Gregory Bourne for paper hanging and painting and found him to be very good and relatively inexepnsive. I don’t know how to reach him but I’ve seen his business card at Pintchik’s on Flatbush and Bergen St. Just inside the front door of Pintchik’s is an area where local tradespeople advertize their services.

  2. you can also check out the website Brooklyn Based which has a “fix it list” of Brooklyn vendors whose clients have been very satisfied with their services. The list is at: http://brooklynbased.net/everything/the-fix-it-list/

You can also try Angie’s List at: http://www.angieslist.com/AngiesList/

It requires a minimal fee subscription, but you can find any type of vendor in any state and review the ratings and reviews provided by their clients.

  3. We bought some wallpaper from a design shop in Williamsburg and they recommended a gentleman who hung it for us. Unfortunately, I can’t remember his name, but if you call the shop they’ll tell you. http://www.thefutureperfect.com/
He was very nice and comes from 3 generations of NY paper hangers. He said he also paints but we didn’t need it at the time. When we do, however, I plan on calling him. His prices were very reasonable.

  4. I’ve used Greg Clarke for several projects in my home, which I’ve been renovating over the past 5 years. During that time I’ve been astounded at how hard it is to find quality craftspeople who don’t charge absurdly high rates. Greg and his crew are the exception; affordable, meticulous, punctual, and remarkably fast. He’s meshed, plastered and painted my parlor floor, and the rest of my house as well… also wallpapered and repaired woodwork. I’ve recommended him to many friends and all have been happy with his work. He’s busy but worth it if he can squeeze you in. Tell him I recommended him.
