Replace floors

I just got a quote for some work in my apartment. Part of it was to replace the flooring in my living room/kitchen. The contractor said it would be $4000 for laminate floors, plus an additional $800 to replace the baseboards. I am curious, does this sound right/fair? The total square footage is about 400 square feet. Thanks!

Hands-down the best food in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill and one of my favorite restaurants in all of Brooklyn (if not the whole city). The food is delicious and it's actually a really good value (most entrees are less than $20). If there are specials the night you go, order them, they are always amazing. Hangar steak and roast chicken are always good bets.

I've been here for dinner with family in from out of town and just for drinks on a daten place. It's also a good spot to sit at the bar and order a late-night bite, which we don't have a lot of in Fort Greene. As stated earlier, staff is super-friendly and seem to know their stuff really well..

I think Maggie Brown is one of the better places to get brunch in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill. (It's also one of the only places that also serves a decent cup of coffee at brunchtime). They've got a nice range of options that are all reasonably priced. The service is nothing to write home about, but I have never found it too bad. The look of the interior is great, and the garden out back is a real treat in the summer.

Olea has been consistently good when I have eaten there (6+ times). I think they have the best food in Fort Greene. Olea does a nice job with both meat entrees and pasta dishes. They have a reasonably priced wine list. I love the grilled baby octopus tapas. Brunch is even pretty good, but DeLepp is right, don't try to go there on a Sunday.

Wine and food are both good, and the garden/patio out back (which no one has mentioned) is lovely in the summer. But I totally agree about the mid-90s decor--changing their light fixtures alone would be a HUGE improvement.
