Paint Job
I'm looking for a painter to do some work on my kitchen: scraping, touching up, some minor plastering. Not a big job, but I'd like it done right. Suggestions?

Termite Inspector
I recently found some evidence that termites had once been nibbling at the underside of our floors. I'd like to hire an inspector to make sure they aren't still there. After reading the previous posts I know who NOT to hire. Any suggestions on someone reliable?

Hey "guest" (aka real estate broker), for the amount of money you guys ask, you'd BETTER put up photos that will create traffic. The listing has been up since 9/21, so it isn't an issue of not having enough time. And, given that the open house is this Sunday, you'd think there was some sense of urgency. Laziness or incompetence. You choose.

I disagree with those who think this post is inappropriate. Yes, a Brownstoner FSBO section would be great. Craigslist is fine for rentals, but I'm not sure I'd look to buy a house or apartment there.

We've used them several times for small jobs and they have always done excellent work.

We had a similar problem and Jim at Pestquest (http://www.pestquest.info/) took care of it quickly by installing a series of spikes and wires. It wasn't expensive and he has returned quickly whenever any of them has slipped or become dislodged. I recommend him highly.

Avoid Vinnie's at all costs. They tried to rip me off several years ago. Ok work, but WAAAY overpriced. Unpleasant to deal with as well.

1:08 here. APS does not only deal with the elderly. If it's as bad as OP indicates, they can provide different services, but it takes a looong time.

OP here-
Wish I could have a cat, but I'm insanely allergic.
So, we're looking for exterminator recommendations.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Someone with no mercy for little mice.

I would just have a talk with the neighbor and explain that you think her mouse problem is carrying over to you .Ask her how can you two work together to alleviate the problem.Stress that mice carry disease and affect the quality of your life.Tell her that if she isnt providing food and clutter, they wouldnt harbor in her home and travel over to yours.

I'm allergic to cats as well, but since I married into two, I've been getting once a month allergy shots and have had no problems at all.

I think that the mouse infestation is not a house-by-house proposition. All the houses are interconnected and the mice run the block, popping up wherever there is an opening. We had no mice at all. Then a radiator was moved and a hole was left in the floor. Mice started to come up from the hole. As soon as we had the hole closed all mice disappeared. Try to close up all openings that will allow the travelers to stop over.

An exterminator is a waste of time until you seal up every hole in your place. This can be a huge job involving pulling out appliances, cabinets, emptying closets etc. Mice can get in through incredibly small holes. In my experience the most common entry points are the holes around radiator pipes and through holes around any pipes coming into a kitchen (water, waste, gas). Try sealing up these first with steel wool and plaster. If you use plaster alone, they can eat through it if they're determined.

Supercharged have been wiring townhouses for my company for 12 years now. Very good professional & well ran business. They have many crews all of whom are competant. They have been in the area 30 years or more are fully licensed & will not bury live wiring like others do just because it was not in the price. They will bring it to your attention & give a price prior to carrying out the work.

Soak some peanuts in bourbon overnight and throw them into the pigeon nest, works wonders. Otherwise you might want to try a wooden owl.

The lack of photographs is odd, isn't it? Either the owners want to hide something, or Corcoran isn't offering very much service in return for its 6%. Neither option is encouraging.
