my rear neighbors just put a few chickens in a coop in their backyard.
they are beautiful birds, but definitely the smell carries over into my garden.

if you have mice, then you don't have rats. the two will not coexist in a building.
so in a way it's good news to see a mouse. there are probably mice in nearly every building in nyc. but when they begin to invade your space, you should call an exterminator. and plug up holes where they enter your apartment.

i believe the "jamaica" tea you speak of is called rosa de jamaica, and it's made from rose hips like those found on rosa rugosa. but i think the flower in the picture might be hibiscus.

I had a good experience with David Watt 646-372-0936. He redid three chimneys in our and made non working fireplaces into working ones. seemed like a very straightforward guy.

This one is pinned in from the side to keep it from falling forward. So it is relatively simple. The trick is to pull the (in this case old flat head nails)out without damaging the side boards. Then the sections stack on top of one another. This one separated at the self below the crown molding and again at the shelf below the mirror. Then all the pieces are a manageable size and weight to transport.

the mantel is very easy to remove. the firebox is built into the brick/marble, and more difficult to remove.
