Anyone Know a Glass Guy?

Hey, out there, I need to get a frameless shower door rehung (the one on the left doesn't close all the way), and have the rubber lining of the door replaced. I can't remember where we got the setup (and the guys who installed it were subcontractors hired by the glass people). Anyone know who can do this work? I'm in Cobble Hill.

"Vinnie" refers to their grandfather who owned a gentleman's clothing store a long long time ago. I think they inherited the business and contemporized it. I beleive they are the ones responsible for that script tilted "Brooklyn" shirt all the hip hop kids wear these days.
I remember reading in the Daily News once how someone tried to rob them at gunpoint and they whipped out their own gun to chase them off just to be busted for an unregistered firearm, D'oh!

An ATM in front of a house, nice

I think they put it up backwards, I bet if you look in the backyard, there's a stoop, and some french windows.

I admit I wear sneakers most of the time, but dont go past typical all black Adidas shelltoes (been wearing them since I was 15).

I have friends my age (@40) who collect sneakers, vinyl toys, and tshirts, I dont get it. Are they trying to buy their youth back?

not the rubber lining of the door but rather the lining on the dividing wall at the bottom.

" oe's upperette" (the sign is falling apart) is amazing for the rice balls and prosciutto balls.

that it did, but I did make it into Club Wildfire a couple times, on rollerskates, we'd zoom in through the swinging doors scream something cheeky, then turn around and scream out of there, good times

The Theater on Court street: "Cinart" they had a sign that said "couples welcome"..

Growing up in Cobble Hill, I remember when I was allowed to leave the block by myself, my mother would say Court street was the line, no going to Smith st. When I was in high school in the 80's I bought weed off dealers on the corner of Bergen and Smith, and in an apartment above what is now Sample. Smith street sure has changed. For better or worse? sometimes it's relative.

You shoulda had em in the 70's when Sal was making the pizza!, in the 70's it was only 50 cents, they had pinball and everything. We still went across to court pastry for ices, d'oh!

Cook's Companion moved a block away awhile ago, same block and side of the street as sahadi's

Eddie Murphy is pretty globally known, more than Jay-Z? maybe just cause he's been around longer. Myke Tyson, another Bklynite who's somewhat worldly

The one time I went there I felt I was totally being "shook down"..60+ bucks for 2 pies and a calzone. I think we had to pay a fee for bringing in our own beer as well.

I go to Ziads pretty much daily, and havent seen a paper in there for awhile, I dont have to be to work til noon, so maybe i'm just getting to the block late.

Posted by: lifer at September 2, 2009 3:07 PM in response to Calming Traffic at Bergen and Smith

I can rarely find a newspaper at that end of Smith street, the place on the corner of Bergen and Smith runs out quick, the place across the street (the organic place) also runs out quick, and there's nothing between that and Atlantic ave.
I wouldnt mind a newstand.

The estimates that have been made, do you guys think this would go for Cobble Hill too? just curious-

not bad, but Oaxaca on Smith is my current favorite Mexican

I know a couple of the guys who play soccer there, a contractor's assistant, and a super of a local apt building where I am sure some of these concerned parents dwell. The soccer players kids also go to p.s.8 and play in that park too.

I remember being at Buttermilk Channel once and there was some wedding dinner or whatever, a large group of friends all Abercrombie and Fitced out and there were 2 guys with fancy hipstery hats that kept them on while eating (I wanted to do a Three Stooges slap across their heads to knock them off). No matter how nice one dresses up, there will always be uncouth people in the crowd.

First a $5.00 slice o pizza, now a $4.25 plain hot dog, I am sure I will try it, i just must be getting old, "I remember when.... pizza and hot dogs were ¢.50", oh, i'm old.

BTW, Trout has their own mini menu, and you can eat the 1963 out back there too, I believe.

I miss the days of Red Rail

Many years ago I had chained my bike to the outside of the area gate. Someone sawed through 2 parts of the gate to get to it. The cuts were clean so it was easy to weld back, but its a risk.

I was going to write earlier, its a place goodfellas go right before and right after prison, no joke.

lifer wrote a review about 2 Toms Restaurant on June 15, 2009 12:43 PM

This place is great. From what I remember they only take reservations (but haven't been there in awhile so I could be wrong). Its family style, when I have been there, they basically tell you whats for dinner. Its alot like Sam's that many people won't like it because of their longstanding "quirks" and unwillingness to bend them for anyone, which for me adds to its character. Great food all around.

If you've been here less than 20 years, you wouldn't get it, or care, no worries. It was obviously made a post cause it would spark heated debate among the long and medium timers.

Don't trust the bococa guide. They have at least one street misspelled and haven't been around long enough to be a definitive guide.

""oh, wellsies"? I guess cool is relative. Don't mind me, I was a regular at MF and grew up with one of the owners, so i'm partial. However, was never a big fan of Bklyn Inn or that crowd, so your assumptions may very well be correct. All in all, i am glad the space was finally rented.

As far as recession proof,.. people who are poor or rich, happy or sad, doctors or janitors, and eveyone in between all get tattooed, thank the lord we (and most shops) take credit cards.

I used to skate Suicide Hill in the 80's, skateboarding in the Heights is not something new, and there was a Tattoo studio for a couple years in the Heights already, as well received as they were, they moved to Smith street for better traffic. Here are 2 threads from the BHB documenting skateboarding in the heights from last year.
