Homeowners want to maintain the original plaster but their architect has warned them that rewiring the house may be an issue because of the asbestos in the walls.

Homeowners want to maintain the original plaster but their architect has warned them that rewiring the house may be an issue because of the asbestos in the walls. They are worried that even drilling small holes to run wiring would disturb the asbestos and want to do the project in a safe, legal way. How have other homeowners addressed this issue?
