From the Forum: Adding Historic Detail to a Brownstone Interior

There’s a bit of original detail in their brownstone but homeowners are considering adding other details that may, or may not, have originally been in the house. They want to choose wisely and are wondering what style points they should consider and if they should dig into what would have been appropriate to the period? What historic resources would help?
