From the Forum: What Happens to Building Violations When a Property Is Sold?
Who will be responsible for penalties related to unresolved violations, the new or the previous owner?
A reader is curious about what might happen if they sell a property that has unresolved violations with the Department of Buildings or Finance. If either agency decides to pursue penalties related to those violations would they go after the new owner or former owner for payment?
Please chime in with any advice.
