marble
Our kitchen cabinets were installed today, so we’re ready to have the counters cut. As some readers may recall, we bought two large slabs of 2-inch 1 1/2 thick marble that came out of an old theater in the West 40’s at Build It Green NYC a couple of months ago. So now we need a recommendation of someone who can come to the house to create the template, then go pick up the slabs in Queens and finally cut and finish them. Preferably this would all happen next week. Any ideas?

  1. Sorry, sorry, I got their name from a friend who had several good jobs with them, and they were always prompt, professional and well priced when returning quotes for me. Glad to have the other feedback.

  2. Red Hook Marble — Luciano Granato 718-625-5291
did a great job… template to install in less than a week (I was in a rush) for a granite countertop. The price was good too.
one side comment though: i don’t think you’ll save much money with this approach, since the cost is mainly in the labor, not the material.

  3. I used West Side Stone & Marble on 125th Street. They picked up the stone in NJ, did the template at my house in B’klyn, cut/polished the stone in their shop in Harlem and delivered and installed it at my house in a little over a week. They were very reasonable (I thought) and very easy to work with.

  4. I have had the exact opposite experience with Foro. They tried to install a vanity countertop that was damaged, attempting to hide the damage. They also tried to bill us for things we did not order or receive. I have found them to be less than honest, totally disorganized, and arrogant.
