From the Forum: Should ETL Listed Lighting Fixtures Pass an Electrical Inspection?
A renovation failed an electrical inspection when it was discovered all the fixtures were ETL rather UL listed.
A reader’s reno just failed an electrical inspection and they are looking for advice. Everything was fine until the ceiling fixtures were checked and discovered to be ETL listed rather than UL. The inspector said the fixtures would have to be replaced with UL listed ones. The homeowner purchased the lights from a supplier in the U.S. so was surprised that they would not meet code. The electrician on the project said that ETL lights normally pass inspection. Do ETL listed fixtures meet NYC code? What should the homeowner do?
Please chime in with your advice.
