Bushwick BK reports that Bushwick residents recently got a dog run approved by the Parks Department for their neighborhood; the new space will be at the northern edge of Maria Hernandez Park near Irving and Willoughby Avenues. The $425,000 upgrade will cordon off 7,200 square feet for the dog run and will include separate areas for both smaller and larger dogs. Some residents, however, are still wondering why the price tag is so high. Park officials said that some of the dough would go towards improving the surrounding infrastructure, like underground plumbing to prevent flooding and new fencing around the area. And for some context, a smaller dog run planned in Williamsburg’s Sternberg Park will cost $380,000. Overall, dog owners are enthusiastic for the space, if a little concerned about “a number of aggressive dogs in the community.”

yet you have no problem paying 10 dollars for two teeny scoops of ice cream, cobble!?! perhaps the contracters/builders decided UP UP UP UP UP there prices because they can get away with it, much like organic coffee shops and ice cream shops.

thats a crazy price. how much does it cost for a fence, a dog-friendly water fountain and some sawdust?
My bid is $50,000, and i can be done in two weeks.
It costs them $400,000, and it will take 6 months.
what don’t you get? single people pay taxes that send a gazillion crotchfruits to public school, why can’t we get some of that tax money for our little babies too? lol did i actually just say that!? GOTD!

I give up. Schools get closed but we spend money on doggie parks and painting pictures of bikes on streets. Sick.
