5 Brooklyn Christmas Tree Lighting Celebrations to Check Out This Holiday Season
Here are five Christmas tree lighting ceremonies happening in Brooklyn, complete with caroling and treats.
Brooklyn is about to light up with a flick of a switch as Christmas trees come to life over the next couple of weeks. Neighborhoods across the borough are hosting community get-togethers to celebrate the season, with appearances by Santa, festive music and treats.
Here are just a few of the events taking place.
Fort Greene Park
Fort Greene Park, near the Myrtle Avenue and St. Edwards Street entrance
Sunday, December 2 Rescheduled for Sunday, December 9, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Myrtle Avenue businesses will be supplying cookies and cocoa to get everyone in the mood to meet Santa and cheer as the lights flicker to life. The Brooklyn Contemporary Chorus will be providing the music and you can help the festive spirit by bringing a new, unwrapped toy for the toy drive. The event is hosted by the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership and the Fort Greene Park Conservancy.
Dumbo
