Help Out One of Brooklyn’s Many Mutual Aid Groups This Holiday Season
Across the borough, mutual aid groups are helping get food and supplies to those in need.

As we find ourselves in the giving season of this tumultuous year, many Brooklynites may be looking around their community and want to help those in need. Below, Brownstoner has compiled a list of mutual aid groups based in Brooklyn that are looking for volunteers, donations and more.
This is in no way a comprehensive list—there are many small, local organizations out there who are doing important work in neighborhoods across the borough. We suggest you visit Mutual Aid NYC’s website, where they have been compiling links and resources across the city.
This group of neighbors in Flatbush has delivered food to more than 600 families during the pandemic. They are currently on pause for grocery deliveries but are still accepting donations.
Brooklyn Immigrant Community Support
BICS is an all-volunteer group that is funded through donations. Visit their website for more information on how to get involved.
Serving Greenpoint and Williamsburg, North Brooklyn Mutual Aid is looking both for volunteers and contributions.
Bushwick Ayuda Mutua is a network of Bushwick neighbors supporting neighbors. Sign up to become a volunteer and donate.
This mutual aid network comprises more than 4,000 people from across Bed Stuy. While they are currently unable to accept any new requests until early 2021, they are still accepting donations and looking for neighborhood volunteers. Information for both can be found at their website.
#BrooklynShowsLove Mutual Aid Project
Run by Equality for Flatbush, BrooklynShowsLove is currently looking for drivers and meal kit packers, as well as help with fundraising. They are on the lookout for virtual volunteers who can help with graphic design, research and administrative tasks. More information can be found on their website.
Covering Sunset Park, Borough Park and Bay Ridge, South Brooklyn Mutual Aid buys and delivers groceries, picks up prescriptions, and offers translation, social services guidance (filing for medicare, unemployment) and many other services. You can sign up to volunteer or donate money to the group at their website.
Greater Prospect Heights Mutual Aid
This network of residents from Prospect Heights and surrounding neighborhoods offers grocery shopping and delivery, pharmacy pickup, friendly conversations (via phone/video chat), local errands and more. They are looking for volunteers, as well as donations for their grocery delivery program.
East Brooklyn Mutual Aid covers East New York, Brownsville, Ocean Hill and Cypress Hills. On their website, you can donate funds, volunteer your time to deliver food and help spread the word about the group. For more information, click here.
Clinton Hill/Fort Greene Mutual Aid
Serving Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, they are looking for volunteers for food pantry distribution shifts, making and donating masks and other PPE for healthcare workers, printing and distributing flyers and more. Covering Ocean Hill, Brownsville and Bed Stuy, Neighbors Together provides food and social services to residents in need. More information on how to volunteer or donate can be found on their website.
This volunteer-led group in Red Hook is funded by community donations. Visit their website for more information about the work they’re doing and how you can help, either as a volunteer or through donations.
