We have to agree up on Alma’s roof deck, a breeze from the East River cuts the humidity, and refreshing cucumber margaritas pair perfectly with the carmarones asados DIY shrimp tacos served with mango salsa, pickled onions, and chipotle aioli. Habana Outpost in Fort Greene, Tatiana in Brighton Beach, and Smith Street’s Gowanus Yacht Club, the Grocery, and Robin des Bois, made the list as well. If packing a picnic basket is more your speed, they recommend the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where members are invited to picnic on Wednesday nights, and the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park in Dumbo.
Dinner With a Side of Sky [New York Magazine]
i can’t stand it when people who live in one of the biggest cities in the world complain about noise. wear some earplugs.
Brooklyn Fish Camp would be on my list. Just as good as the West Village version but with 10 times the space and a great back patio.
I’ve been to Osaka many times and it has a wonderful laid-back garden–they also do not serve hard liquor. Makes a big difference in the vibe of the outdoor space. Its certainly not a boisterous bar filled with self-absorbed drunks.
what does “I live right ‘next store'” mean?
I lived right next store and upstairs from osaka for 8 years. except for when i had the windows open and was right next to it, i could never hear them. although i thoroughly enjoyed walking down 1 flight and eating in their garden. living in a neighborhood with great restaurants that have outdoor gardens is a great thing.. well worth the occasional inconvenience of minor noise. this is nyc you know, not westchester.
The next time you get hammered while drinking al fresco, realize that there are at least 25 people watching you make an ass of yourself from the comforts of their homes.
I wish all you people my pain. Until you live next to a bar/restaurant you have no way to substantiate your comments like “if you don’t like it just move.” Ridiculous.
I said, fortunately ,there isn’t one affecting me.
And also – it is not just intruding on someone living above but for many neighbors – since noise in backyards is like echo and amplifies down the block.
And that this practice of restaurants/bars using backyard (mostly of them against building codes)
was rare before last few years.
You must have been aware that there is a restaurant below you and that warm weather occurs 3-4 months out of the year when you moved in.
