If this includes the empty lot on the NW corner, then I can see it – barely. Otherwise, this small lot doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for a hotel / restaurant – mid-block, buried between the auto mechanics, projects, recycling centers, projects, cabinet & countertop makers, projects, HVAC contractors, and did I mention the projects? I’m not sure 34 rooms makes a destination.
A LOT more hotel room are needed. My office is in Dumbo, and hotel rooms in the downtown area are so few and expensive that it is far cheaper for visitors and consultants to stay in Manhattan.
