Get an Artful View of the Canal With an Exhibition at the Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse
The work of pioneering artists who have drawn inspiration from the Gowanus Canal will be on view in December.
The work of pioneering artists who have drawn inspiration from the Gowanus Canal will be on view in a new exhibition of small works at the Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse.
The show, on view over four Saturdays in December, features 26 artists, including Diane Bertolo, Jeremy Dine, Anne-Marie McIntyre, Michael Koehler and Susan Newmark. Many of the participating artists have either lived, worked or have been inspired by Gowanus. You’ll be able to view the work and also purchase a piece, with prices at $150 or less.
Curated by Sasha Chavchavadze and PK Ramani, co-founders of Proteus Gowanus, the exhibition is the first of a series of shows that will be launching at the boathouse in the new year.
The exhibition coincides with the Gowanus Holiday Flea, which runs on the same Saturdays as the exhibition, December 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 12 to 4:30 p.m. The fair includes work from many Brooklyn-based artists and makers and is ideal for gift-giving.
The Gowanus Pioneer Small Works Exhibition kicks off this weekend with an opening reception on Saturday, December 1 from 12 to 4:30 p.m at 165 2nd Street. For more information on the exhibition and a full list of participating artists, visit the Gowanus Dredgers website.
