More than two years after it closed, Housing Works is finally returning to Montague Street.
A recent stroll showed pink “Coming Soon!” signs filling the shopfront window of 150 Montague Street. According to the signs, Housing Works plans to open a new thrift shop at the location this fall.
For more than a decade the charity operated a thrift shop at 122 Montague Street before closing the location in March of 2017 after the lease for the storefront ended. At the time, Cheryl Grimm, Vice President of Housing Works Thrift Shops, said in a statement that the charity shop hoped to return to Brooklyn Heights. A year later, they launched a new location in Park Slope at 424 7th Avenue. Now, it appears they have finally secured a new Brooklyn Heights location.
The new spot will bring the total number of Housing Works thrift stores to 14. Most of the shops are located in Manhattan, but in addition to the current Park Slope location, there is also one in Forest Hills.
