The Architect’s Newspaper published this rendering of a new rooftop canopy coming to Crown Heights’ Brooklyn Children’s Museum next summer. From AN: “The canopy with an EFTE skin covered in a dot matrix frit will allow the rooftop to be used for lectures, concerts, and other events, including the museum hopes, in the blazing hot summer months. The designers say the frit is meant to mimic the dappled light of a tree.” The arch of the rooftop will span 75 feet. The same architect, Toshiko Mori, plans to renovate the building’s restrooms and theaters. Click through for one more shot.

I’ve always liked the design. It happily contrasts everything around it, making it quite cool. This is more good news for our neighborhood.
they’re not white, they are transparent so you can see all the yellow dots!
This looks wonderful. I live a few blocks from the museum and during construction hated Vinolly’s design. Fell in love with it the first time i saw the building finished. My only beef- I hate that shade of yellow but it does work.
rob- don’t make an issue where there is none. they’re transparent icons- you can’t tell who they are- they’re ciphers.
