Turns out the “bookstore, reading club, mini-gallery and community space” we said (quoting Here’s Park Slope) was moving into 1111 8th Avenue between 11th and 12th streets is actually going to be an outpost of powerHouse Books. Brooklyn Paper was the first to report that the Dumbo-based bookseller is coming to the former video rental store location. The article goes into some history of books, bookstores and literati in Park Slope, noting that an “exodus” of bookstores has left the neighborhood with only two. Bookstore owners, though, said business is up. “People like bookstores as a destination,” said powerHouse founder and Park Slope resident Daniel Power.
