A South Street Seaport tapas restaurant that couldn’t stay above water after Hurricane Sandy has found a new home on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge.
Jose Rodriguez, who was a partner in the Seaport restaurant, Salud!, will open Salud BKLYN at 7204 3rd Avenue. He hopes to start serving dinner and brunch in November.
The menu will be similar to Rodriguez’s first restaurant, featuring seafood-heavy Latin small plates and a few larger entrée options. While Bay Ridge’s dining scene is extremely diverse, this will be the first of its kind in the neighborhood and should be a welcome addition.
Salud BKLYN will be housed in the former Olla Wine Bar, which closed in July. Rodriguez has applied for a liquor license.
Rodriguez, who currently lives in Staten Island, said he lived near Bay Ridge for 10 years and his wife is from the area. “I’m very, very honored that the community board accepted me and I’ll do everything in my power to bring the right stuff [to Bay Ridge],” he told Brownstoner. “I’ve always wanted the opportunity to bring that style to the neighborhood.”
