Trader Joe's Reveals Williamsburg Store Will Open Friday, December 10 With Live Music

Trader Joe’s Williamsburg outpost will officially open Friday, December 10, the store announced today. When Brownstoner stopped by 200 Kent Avenue Sunday, a mural decorating the entrance had been completed and work was still going on inside.
Opening day will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and live music, according to a store press release. The mural visible from the street and other artwork in the store “pays tribute to area landmarks and local lore,” such as the Williamsburg Bridge and the “area’s prominent biking culture,” said the release.
Rumors of opening dates have been flying online, with some saying Black Friday, November 30, December and even January.
Trader Joe’s signed a lease for the space back in 2015, according to a story in Crain’s at the time. That was back before Whole Foods opened on Bedford. The grocer has two other locations in the borough, in Cobble Hill — where the lines wrap around the block — and at City Point in Downtown Brooklyn. Another location recently opened not far from Williamsburg in Long Island City.
The developer is Cornell Realty Management, who are active in the borough. They purchased the property in 2016 for $33 million. Michael Even is the architect of record, and LIVWRK handled the design of the building.
