Can anyone recommend a carpenter to build and finish/stain radiator covers that match existing woodwork/wainscotting?

  1. I have done a couple of radiator covers for friends and really do like working with wooden projects it does not cost that much to make one try your hand at making one or I would be glad to help out. Wooden ones really give the room a special touch.

  2. We had a problem too because everyone we found to make there were a rip off at $500 or more per cover!! We found this place on google – http://www.fichman.com. They do really nice work, they are fully customizable and they start at $100 unfinished! If you want it painted it’s only another 24.99. We got 3 and are really happy with them. Oh – and they shipped the order really quickly to us!

  3. Wow…woodenradiatorcabinet.com is EXTREMELY overpriced for a very basic radiator cover that would fit a typical NYC apartment!!! $400 starting price for a basic, wooden radiator cover…you have to joking and they claim on their website to be fair in pricing!!! I have researched this heavily, as I’ve been looking for a cover for my two radiators in my small apartment and you can get basic models, custom built for around $150. I’m still searching for a better deal though! Does anyone know where in Manhattan you can find covers to view in person and buy there, rather than over the Internet?

  4. Sorry, I hadn’t checked this site in awhile. Yes, the wooden radiator company’s covers really look like custom furniture. Very happy with the results and price. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the local carpenters we contacted, because they were so much more expensive.

  5. I recommend Joseph Petrillo. He’s done a lot of different work in our co-op building (in Clinton Hill) including building radiator covers for a couple of different apartments, installing cabinets, plaster work, etc. He’s reliable and fair-priced. # is 718-857-4767.
