Chimney Cleaning
Getting ready for winter they say one has to have chimney cleaned. I never did that for my house. Do people recommend that? And if yes, can you recommend a company that does good job? Thank you

We also had good experience with A&A’ it might have been Andre. Their guy inspected 4 fireplaces and the boiler chimney and recommended a couple of minor repairs that we could completely see for ourselves were needed. Total cost was about $200. These guys are honest and they don’t blow smoke up your $$. Talk to them, but it doesn’t seem like annual maintenance is required.
Hi – Andre from A & A chimney came out to my house last year. He didn’t need to do much and actually charged $50 instead of the $250 I was expecting. This was because we don’t use our chimney for woodburning, just boiler exhaust. He seemed really honest and trustworthy – not prone to false claims of creosote build-up.
Get two quotes.
Im not saying all chimney cleaners are crooks….
But I used to work for one. He would offer a free quote, then try to instill fear into clients by mentioning fire risk because of “creosote buildup” which may or may not be as built up as he stated.
I don’t want to ruin anyone’s business, but one bad chimney cleaner has given me this opinion.
This is a great forum for “leveling the playing field” with contractors that try to pull the wool over our eyes.
