Anyone know where to find old double entry doors. Need them around 49″by 110″. Was going to have them made, but WAY too expensive. Thanks

  1. Hi, we looked for many years, but decided to have our own built at a cost of about 12,500, installed, including refinishing the existing molding. We used Nelson Zavela nrz1970@aol.com. We decided not to use existing doors because it was very hard to match the size, hiring a carpenter to make them fit cost a lot of money, and we were worried about lead paint…

  2. I do not have a Trustyle door altough am thinking replacing my current one with one of their’s. Just sat though a cont ed class by them. Just seems like a really well built product.

  3. Have you considered a small transom over the doors? It wouldn’t look out of place (in fact, it might have been part of the original design), and you’ll be giving yourself a lot more options, especially since you could make the transom after you locate doors you like. Then it could be just about any depth. My doors are 102″ by 48″ (they were originally a few inches longer, I cut them down)and they almost look out of proportion. I’m thinking that 110″ x 49 may almost be too tall and skinny. At the very least, given the money that you’re going to be spending, maybe you should draw a small scale drawing of a 4″x9″ square divided in half and see if you like the proportions.

  4. I bought a very nice “tombstone” double glass pane door in maine. this guy strips them and fills them and they come to you very nice. Door was about $900 and shipping was about $350 or so.

He does have some double doors…nice guy to deal with. Not sure he’ll have anything that tall…there are many other places you can find by googgling antique victorian doors

  5. Thanks, Jockdeboeraia. I like the doors although they say they don’t warranty doors over 96″ tall. I guess that is the risk of tall doors. Do you have pics of yours?
