we’re putting in a hot water heating system in a townhouse. we’re choosing between runtal radiators, veha radiators and slant fin baseboard units. aside from the obvious visual differences, are there any advantages (heat quality, energy efficiency, maintenance and service for example) to spending 10 fold on the high end runtals? any opinions on the 3 options welcome…

thanks!

  1. Go with Runtal. You could use towel warmers as your source of heat in the bathroom and have two uses for them. I sold a bunch of runtal rads and towel warmers to a customer recently. Pricey, but really great looks and quality.
I’m not familiar with Veha, and well Slant/Fin is well Slant/Fin, basic everyday baseboard. If it fits your budget go with the Runtal.

  2. We have used Runtal Radiators quite a bit in past radiator installations. Our clients have been very satisfied with both there performance and style.Once you have determined the correct heat loss for the room, using Runtal Radiators offer a variety of options to satisfy that need . You can use them as standard baseboard radiators or as Vertical Wall Hung radiators. If wall space is an issue you can just add columns to increase BTU output so you do not have baseboard radiators on every wall of the room. They are very sleek only protruding from wall approx. 1 3/4″ as opposed to standard baseboard which protrudes approx. 3 3/4″ from wall. They also provide differ options for installing the feed and return heating lines. Runtal provides a wide variety of color options to fit your taste. They are more expensive but we highly recommend them to our clients.

  3. It really is just a matter of looks. AS long as you size each kind correctly (the way they look also effects the heat output)your ‘quality of heat’ will be excellent.
